From the Principal

Welcome to the Diamond Mine! Our school’s mantra is “Great Things Come from Lower Richland.” This is evidenced by the success of our students in the classroom, their success in extracurricular activities and the improvement of established programs. Lower Richland is a High School’s that Works site, a Positive Behavioral Intervention Strategies (PBIS) school, and an International Baccalaureate School. Lower Richland provides students with the opportunity to meet their academic, social and emotional needs with a focus on the student’s future. Our structure provides support to incoming ninth graders through our Smaller Learning Communities Literacy Grant. PBIS supports students and faculty by encouraging the character traits of respect and responsibility and students in our career and technology programs excel in local, state and national competitions. Students at Lower Richland are attached to the community through service activities. Our cheerleaders participate in Women’s Walk against Breast Cancer and our JROTC unit has been recognized as a National Honor Unit for the past fifteen years. Lower Richland students also hold state office in FBLA & FCCLA. We are extremely proud of our Lady Diamond Basketball Team winners of the state 4A basketball championship for the second year in a row. Our boys’ basketball team has captured the Region V championship for the fourth year in a row. Students have received scholarships to college in baseball, football, basketball and track. Lower Richland High School is proud of its accomplishments and we look forward to an even brighter future. Again, welcome to the Diamond Mine!! Marvin Byers, Principal
